In my experience, gratitude can be hard. We run around and forget about all the blessings life holds. Or we focus on what we don’t have instead of all that we do.
Then I get on a gratitude kick and I am so thankful for the people in my life and the opportunities to go and see and be. And I thought that pretty much covered all the bases.
And then last night at Nurturing the Nurturer, an impactful mom support group that I have the pleasure of attending monthly, we were given lovely gratitude journals and then an assignment.
We had to start the book off with a list of what we were grateful to ourselves for. It took me a minute to get going. I wanted to write that I was grateful for my family but that didn’t count. What in myself and about myself did I really appreciate?
So I share with you my list. Because I did it. I filled a page with the traits and skills that I possess. And every time I add to this journal, I’ll see this list I made today and be reminded of who I am and what I can do.
All that’s on my plate these days: motherhood, work, and growing this community of moms…they all start with knowing myself and then being that person God made me to be. So let me share my gratitude and I’ll say thank you to Him, thank you to myself, and thank you to you for reading this.
**If you are interested in Nurturing the Nurturer, join us on the 2nd Wednesday of each month from 6:30-8. Babies welcome. It’s a donation-only group and led by a mental health professional and a post-partum doula. Great group of moms and great conversations!
