The mama'hood

Want to learn from a professional how to take fabulous photos of your family?

This workshop will cover:

  • Composure (rule of thirds, vertical vs. horizontal, changing up your point of view)
  • Lighting (how to use natural light to your advantage, where to pose your subject in tough lighting situations)
  • Aperture priority, shutter speed priority and ISO
  • iPhone photography and best editing apps

What you will need: Compact Digital Camera (basic point and shoot camera), OR DSLR (digital single-lens-reflex camera). iPhone, or other smart phone will also be used in a portion of the class.

Our instructor is the talented Sarah of  Sarah Renee Photography who will cover the concepts of photography we should keep in mind when snapping pictures of anyone, anywhere.

Sarah has been photographing couples, families and babies around Denver for the last 5 years. You can hear her give some great tips for family photo sessions here.

Note: This is the first in a series of three photography classes. All three classes are not required, but will be taught in order of technical level. This first one is very basic and a DSLR camera is not required, but will be in the following two classes as the lessons become more advanced. The second class will be focused on shooting in manual and diving more into the technical side of your camera. The third and final class will be completely focused on editing using Photoshop.

For those who sign up for all three classes, you will gain access to a group board on Facebook for one year where you can share your photos for critique (constructive, positive and friendly), have questions answered by me and other group members and share your knowledge with your classmates!

I look forward to meeting all of you and sharing the world of photography with you! If you have any questions you can reach me by email at, or text or phone at 303.619.8945. You can also check out my work at,, or
